Prom weekend has come and gone. There were no cat fights (see above) over similar dresses, nor was there any serious prom-ah. After-prom getaway was awesome, due to gigantic speakers, a seven foot beach ball, and a lotta ruit. No one liked my CDs, since they were all indie and didn't include any Lil' Wayne songs. WhatEVER! Here are a few of those songs.
My friend DD used to call herself Phoenix. LOL 7th gradezzz
Phoenix - Everything is Everything
I blast this song in my car till the part where he talks about sex...
Guillemots - Get Over It
You thought "take on me" couldn't get better? It did.
a-ha - Take on Me (Twelves Remix)Hehehe... the BLOW. Blatantly bj.
The Blow - Pile of GoldHappy! Lovable! Electronic!
The Sound of Arrows - M.A.G.I.C.
All my AP tests are over, so that means I'm (unofficially) done with school. This Friday, I watched "The Queen," got three free periods and finished the day off with an episode from the Simpsons. I'm not complaining! It's so weird that my childhood is over. I only know who I am in the context of my family, in the context of my high school. But I'll figure it out. Here I come Swarthmore! Here are some songs to blast out the window on a new summer day.
Greaaaat japanese group. beep beep!
80kidz - Life Begins at Eighty
I wake up almost everyday to this song.
The Boy Least Likely To - Be Gentle With Me
Something about staring at the ocean
Ambulance - I Am Not Zen
I'm in a dance show and we use this ridiculous French song.
Alizee - Moi... Lolita
I had to choose between being blind and being deaf, I would lose my sight. I only get four songs stuck in my head. So if I could never listen to music again, I'd be forced to listen to the same songs over and over again in my brain. That would ess you kay suck. Here are those four songs, in all their impossibly obnoxious catchiness.
Elevator, elevator, shut the fuck up.
Stars - Elevator Love Letter
SSLYBY forever and ever and ever and ever...
Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin - I Am Warm and Powerful
This is embarrassingly good.
Motion City Soundtrack - Perfect Teeth
Those crazy scandanavians
Junior Senior - Can I Get Get Get
I have six cats, a dog, and a baby boa constrictor living at my house(s). Their names are Comet, Audrey, Cleo, Possum, Vito, Keitha, Jester and Sid respectively. Sometimes my mom's boyfriends dogs come over and I can barely step through the house. I suppose it's only natural that I love bands with animal names.Check out the New York Magazine article about the boys' new album!
Grizzly Bear - Two Weeks
Just google this crazy's name into Google images. Aishiteru.
Patrick Wolf - Overture
Cute little dancey song. Very chippy!
Cicada - Metropolis (The Twelves remix)
God I hate to say it... this is hauntingly beautiful. (bleh ew I said it)
A Perfunctory Clockwork Yawn - Mimicking Birds
A hypnotist came to our school yesterday and fucked some shit up. One (hilarious) kid protected a group of fruit until he was convinced they were planning a conspiracy against him. My friend Bear stole the show with his ballet dancing and alien game-spitting. Anyways, here are some songs I'm diggin. No theme.
TPC sux live. But this remix is dead on.
Tokyo Police Club - Your English Is Good (K-Os Remix)
If you're young, confused, and have access to a squirt gun.
Japandroids - Young Hearts Spark Fire
Five-piece electroband that makes me want to sway.
The Pragmatic - Circles
Feels like walking on the moon.
School of Seven Bells - Connjur

I always used to babysit, and for a whole summer I interned at a 3rd grade tutoring non-profit organization. At this moment, I can't STAND being around kids. It's not that I don't think they're cute and even fun sometimes. But you have to look after them constantly. Ugh. I know I'll like them again in a few months. But for now, I'm enjoying conversing with people over the age of ten. However, songs with children's voices can rok.
There's a Gorillaz movie out called "Bananaz!" Yes!
Gorillaz - Dirty Harry
New songs! They brought in a children's choir to do these
Passion Pit - The Reeling
Passion Pit - Little Secrets
Lullabye rendition of Radiohead. Play it to budding scenesters.
Rockabye Baby - Karma Police
I hate being American and not Japanese because our stars look like this or this and Japan has Perfume and their fucking cuteness overload. We have hershey's bars, they have pocky in hundreds of flavors like kiwi and blueberry cheesecake. And Japanese commercials actually make me laugh. Maybe in another life I'll live in Japan, turn on the television, and have access to five channels at any one time showing trannies throw themsevles at velcro walls. Sighhhh.
The song that inspired the post. Check out the video too!
Perfume - One Room Disco
Speaking of bizarre, the Books are high up there.
The Books - That Right Ain't Shit
The Books - Tokyo
I don't think that Supercar makes music anymore, sadly.
Supercar - Otogi Nation
Japanese New Yorkers! YAY!
Asobi Seksu - Happy
From dirtydirtydancing.com
Sometimes you just need to grab some kandi and flail to those house beats. I've never actually been to a club... or a rave... but I make do by myself with iPod speakers and a pair of silver leggings. Here's what I pump (all alone) at two in the morning (in my room).
Nothing in the world makes me as happy as this song. Kinda sad...
Giantess - You Were Young
New group I'm liking a lot. They're very physics savvy as well.
Tesla Boy - Electric Lady
Love you, Fred Falke. So monotonous, so satisfying!
Mini Viva - Left My Heart in Tokyo (Fred Falke Dub Remix)
Three insane, japanese girls who like the word "nipples."
Trippple Nippples - RIP Meat
BFF with your baby?
It's funny that over the course of high school, everything changes and nothing changes. I've been friends with (pretty much) the same people for four years. Is that depressing? Hopefully not.... Either way, they're amazing and attractive, and their names are in many great songs!
Biffer Sara is currently dating a boy named Za(c)k. I KNOW! ITS CRAZY!
Ben Folds - Zak and SaraLovable eco-terrorist. Confession: I don't use reusable grocery bags. Don't kill me.
Caribou - Irene
I don't know a Kim, but I do know a shlemiel, stylin' little bundle named Jessica.
M83 - Kim & Jessie
I love Bear. He's superman, John McCain, and a tipsy lumberjack all in one.
Softlightes - Girl Kills BearNOTE: I'm surprised the band "Softlightes" is not more popular. They're fantastik!
Softlightes - The Microwave Song
Shout-out to Abby, Peeper, Willa, Core Four and my other heads. It's not that I don't love you, it's just that no band gives a shit about your name.
